Forney, Rockwall, Royse City Storm related damage

Filing an insurance claim

The Dallas, Rockwall, and Forney areas we significantly impacted by yesterday’s storms.  We live in Heath, and there were some scary
moments!  Even if your home wasn’t directly hit by a tornado, you could still have minor or even major damage.

I pulled up some information about things to look for if you are concerned your home might have experienced hail damage.  This is from the Allstate website and it gives these tips if your home was in a tornado and/or hail storm:

Tornado Damage

• In the days or weeks after a tornado, check walls and ceilings for water stains or yellowing that did not exist before. It could indicate damage on the roof.

• Carefully inspect the outside gutters. Damaged gutters could cause water damage inside the home long after the actual gutter damage occurs.

Hail Damage

For residents who received hail, there are a few places you can look for signs of damage:

• Check patio covers, screens, windows and soft aluminum roofs for hail damage.

• Be safe when checking for roof damage, and consider using binoculars to check your roof for hail damage.

• Check vehicles for dents and broken or cracked glass caused by hail.

• If you find hail damage, consider doing the following:

• Cover any broken windows and holes in your roof, as well as any broken glass on the car, to prevent further damage.

• Report your insurance claim as soon as possible; no matter what the level of damage.

• If possible, have your auto insurance, homeowner insurance and/or renter’s insurance policy numbers available when you report your claim.

• Take pictures before you make any temporary repairs.

• Keep receipts for necessary temporary repairs due to a covered loss to present to your adjuster. These costs may be reimbursable under your homeowner policy.

If you just aren’t sure whether there was damage or not, but are still concerned, there are many roofing companies with experience evaluating hail damage and also can negotiate directly with your insurance company.

I hope this helps! As always, don’t hesitate to call or email me if you need anything at all! I hope all is well and hope to hear from you soon.

Talk to you soon,

Jennifer

Some campuses have exterior cameras that capture entrances and portions of the parking areas. Future planning includes installing cameras that provide additional coverage of parking areas and cover gymnasiums, cafeterias and other strategic locations.

Romantic Restaurants for Valentine’s Day

Need some inspiration for where to take your Sweetheart this Valentine’s Day?   I love visiting new restaurants and trying new food!  As a result, I have had the pleasure of visiting some really great Romantic places!

If you want to stay in Rockwall, Zanata has great ambiance, wine and to die for Pizza!  You can never go wrong at Culpeppers, a higher end steak and seafood restaurant with lots of little corner tables perfect for your romantic evening!

My all time favorite Valentine’s destination requires travel across Lake Ray Hubbard into Dallas.  The Grape is an unpretentious European-style bistro featuring classic dishes and a noteworthy wine list.

Other Dallas favorites for Romance include The French Room  where more proposals have been made in Dallas than anywhere else, 111 Forks where you will find premium steaks and one of the best salads around , The Oceanaire Seafood Room  has wonderful atmosphere and hard to find Fresh Seafood and last but not least the Dragonfly at Hotel Za Za is an established Dallas “scene” where Modern American cuisine does not disappoint!

If you have a few days off, why not take a drive to Glenrose, TX where you can stay  at an 11,000 sf ranch  and dine at the 5 star restaurant.  The love of my life and I got married at The Rough Creek Lodge and you can not beat the Country Ambiance for Love and Romance!

Hope you find some inspiration to make this Valentine’s Day one to remember!

Texas Named Sixth Most Enterprising State

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Urban Land Institute) – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has released its ”Enterprising States 2011″ report, and it enhances Texas’ reputation for being a business-friendly state.

The Lone Star State ranked sixth on the list of top ten states for low business taxes and regulations. The report said “the Lone Star State is a low-tax state that offers a low cost of living and has an enterprise-friendly climate that’s paying off with high job growth rates. Recent state initiatives include a business tax reform that raises the revenue exemption.”

Ahead of Texas were Tennessee, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alaska and Indiana.

According to the Urban Land Institute, “states were ranked in a variety of performance metrics, including their tax and regulatory environments. Those environments were compared in five ways: overall state and local tax burdens, corporate taxes, small-business costs, state government budget gaps, and cost-of-living indices.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce noted that states making the top ten were mostly inland locales, saying desirable coastal states don’t always need incentives to attract business investment and expansion.
