Introduction
Creative Concepts Computer Design provides computer and technical support to small businesses in the area as well as individuals at home. By doing so, the company will place emphasis on quality, customer service, and marketing.
The Company
Creative Concepts will start as a sole proprietorship, with no outside financing. Creative Concepts will start as a home office, using one studio room in the owner’s house and serving customers in Eugene.
Creative Concepts will be initially owned by Bram Ekstrand. Based on growth, the company might add more employees or expand its operations.
The Market
Market research indicates that additional businesses could fill a niche in the market. Due to the extraordinary pace of technological innovation in the computing industry, there is a constant demand for businesses that are skilled at updating and advising customers regarding computer-related issues. Home PC users will provide the majority of our business revenue. These jobs usually consist of minor updates services and advising. Business Week projects that the computing industry will grow at a rate in excess of 12%, and that processor speeds will continue to increase for many years to provide a rich resource for sales.
Creative Concepts has chosen to concentrate exclusively on the home PC market. Home customers tend to want jobs that are faster, simpler, and less time-consuming than small business customers. These customers also have more flexibility when it comes to service times, which makes them more productive.
Our target market will focus on Eugene and the surrounding areas. Research shows that there are plenty of opportunities for small businesses like Creative Concepts. If a need exists for increased business, such promotional mediums as radio or print ads will be explored.
Two major competitors compete in the computer upgrade market in the greater Eugene/Springfield. VOS Computers is the main competitor. Suntech Computers is also a contender. These two companies charge more than Creative Concepts so we expect to be capable of attracting the price-sensitive market.
Financial Considerations
There are very low start-up expenses. As this is a service company and not product-oriented it should have low operational costs throughout the start-up phase.
Fixed costs have been set at a reasonably accurate monthly level. This should cover equipment maintenance, purchase or replacement of essential tools required to perform our services. Variable costs have been set per unit to allow for additional expenses such as gas or other travel costs specific to each job.
