Introduction
Godsend Concierge Service (GCS) is a full-service concierge primarily serving the untapped corporate market in Eugene, Oregon. This company can do most errands for clients, which frees up time to create value for their employer. Employers will appreciate our service because it offers another way to attract qualified workers.
The top three goals for the first year are: GCS usage in at least four of 10 top local companies; and, to increase our client service by 20% per the year through superior performance as well as word-of-mouth referrals.
The Company
Taylor Gogetter will be the sole proprietor of this home-based business. The GCS staff will include Mr. Gogetter who will work full time. By the end of 2011, 3 full-time employees will be hired by GCS. GCS will pay more for quality employees as this is a high-demand industry. GCS will provide an extensive employee training program on an ongoing basis.
Services
Godsend Concierge Service provides a wide variety of services for customers. The tasks required of employees will vary widely. However, the main need will still be for services/errands performed during regular business hours. If employees are at work, the company would prefer to have them productive than running an operation.
Market
Concierge companies are a way for corporations to compensate their employees for less time. We will be focusing on Eugene for large corporations like Hyundai, Sony Disc Manufacturing, Levi Strauss, and others. Medium-sized businesses include Burley Design Cooperative (Palo Alto Software), Bike Friday, and larger law firms.
While many corporations offer concierge services for employees, it is more common to have an employee do the work. In the eyes the employee, having a concierge at home is just as valuable, but it is less efficient. GCS can offer concierge services to companies at an affordable rate.
We can also help individuals who realize the value in having someone else take on tasks that they don’t have the time or decide it isn’t worth their time. This market will be attracted through word-of–mouth marketing.
Currently in Eugene there are two concierge style companies, both primarily servicing individuals. GCS will be targeting businesses as it sees a market that has not been explored and because it offers greater volume and more consistent work.
Considerations for Financial Planning
Godsend Concierge Service will charge a start-up fee that includes all the equipment required to set up a home-based office, legal fees and website creation. The projected growth rate for GCS is over 100% per year, with strong operating margins. GCS projects sales of $156,000 for the year 2013. The company will bill its clients at an hourly basis.
Objectives
The following objectives are set for the initial three years of operation
- To create a service-based company whose primary goal is to exceed customers’ expectations.
- GCS use in at minimum four of the top 10 companies in your area, as listed by the local newspaper in its annual listing of local businesses.
- To increase our number of clients served by 20% per year through superior performance and word-of-mouth referrals.
- To establish a viable home business, you must have enough cash flow to survive.
