Brilliant Points, Inc. (Brilliant Points or the Company) is a software and services company that uses unique software designs and configurations to transfer information from users to computers through innovative applications of laser, optical, and video technologies. The Company currently has received one U.S. patent in the field of optical control of computers (e.g. computer-based presentations), and has applied in the future for other patents. A number of foreign patent applications have been filed, and are pending.
The Company’s mission includes the creation and protection of intellectual property through international patent application, aggressively protecting patents against infringement, and finally entering into licensing agreements with vendors and manufacturers of optical, laser, or video components. Multiple products have been developed by the Company that turn its intellectual property into revenues. These products can be immediately used in home, corporate and educational settings as well as gaming and government environments. deneme bonusu veren siteler
Brilliant Points, a company that specializes in computer presentation, has introduced cutting-edge technology to the market. These technologies are practical and easy to use. The Company believes its technology is ready for prime time. The opportunity for the Company lies in securing marketable, patentable technologies and then to successfully obtain licensing agreements with current manufacturers of existing solutions, thus helping to expand their product line and offer innovative solutions for common problems.
Brilliant Points created the first patentable technology in the United States, U.S. Pat. #6,275214 –’ Computer Present System and Method With Optic Tracking of WirelessPointer. This software allows full control of computers via standard laser-pointing equipment and drivers, giving the high-end laser pointer device the functionality a keyboard or mouse. This makes presentations easier to use, opens up new areas of entertainment and gaming, and expands the possibilities for presenters. By combining the functionality of two necessary peripherals, the mouse and the keyboard, into the already useful laser pointer, Brilliant Points allows the presenter or user to focus more on the art of the presentation or application, rather than the technology enabling it. A three-minute demo video is available for download from http://kchansen.home.att.net/.
The market for computer-based presentations is huge and growing quickly. Stanford Resources, a research company, estimated that there were two million worldwide shipments in 2002 of business projectors. These projectors are used to create presentations for boardrooms, conference rooms, and other venues. They reached 1.4million units and generated $6 billion in revenue. This market is expected to grow to 4.5 million units and $10billion in revenue within four years. Hewlett-Packard recently announced that it will start shipments to business projectors systems. This is a sign that PC manufacturers are interested in this market. InFocus a huge business projector manufacturer has set a target to reach 4% attachment rate in its laptop projectors. These devices will also be very popular at home. InFocus expects that the shipments of its projector systems for home entertainment systems could surpass 2.5 million units next-year. Brilliant Points expects to penetrate the presentation systems market by aggressively marketing and licensing its technology, through sales of “upgrade” kits (consisting of Webcam, pointer, and Company software) to existing projector owners, and with sales/licensing of Brilliant Points SDK tools that enable other companies to develop applications and drivers which build on the patented Brilliant Points technology.
The Company will initially concentrate on retrofitting current owners of presentation hardware through ‘#8220’ upgrade kits.
At the same time, Brilliant Points hopes to create the latent demand necessary to motivate the makers of presentation hardware to include the Brilliant Points software set and laser pointers with their hardware as a replacement for the limited functionality of a remote or other controlling device. Brilliant Points has developed software solutions that can be used to enhance business presentation systems.
It is clear that the Company has a strong case to invest in it. The forecast increase in computer-based projection system usage, combined with the demand for Brilliant Points technology, makes this a strong argument. But there are other opportunities which offer even more potential but take more time to realize.
Brilliant Points currently has patent-pending products. These products allow for secure data transmission through the laser pointer device (secure pointer tech), (2) the use of complex laser emitter heads capable of creating distinct colors or patterns (complex tiper technology) and/or (3) the use of stabilization mechanisms in pointer devices to reduce ‘pointerjitter’ during presentations (stable pointer tech). Brilliant Points has developed secure pointer technology to improve the performance and application of the hardware and the software. It allows users to confidently utilize the technology in multiple devices without having to worry about interference from hostile audience members trying to disrupt a presentation using their pointers. Secure pointer technology can also be used to enhance laser target designators or create undetectable secure optic communications links. These can either be sensed user-to-user directly or indirectly by reflections off of walls or clouds or other obstacles. Complex pointer technology makes possible the development of multi-user interfaces where each user has a unique secure/complex pointing device. Complex/secure pointer technology allows for presentations that involve audience interaction. Each audience member has a distinct secure/complex pointer from the presenter. It also has applications in the military community. Stabilized pointsers make it easy for average users to click buttons and select menu items during presentations. They also reduce distractions from the audience caused by random finger or hand movements that cause the pointer to move around.
Each of these development areas, (1) secure pointers, (2) complex pointers, and (3) stabilized pointers, in and of itself opens up new sales channels for the laser pointer industry, while simultaneously generating additional revenue streams for Brilliant Points. These technologies will likely be of great interest to current laser pointer makers. It will result in a shift in the market away from a commodity-based market to one that focuses on products customized to specific needs and applications. Brilliant Points will also benefit greatly. Although the laser-pointing device market is currently in decline it opens up revenue possibilities for Brilliant Points. Many of the laser pointer companies are very large and offer a diverse product line. The Company may be able grow its licensing revenues through existing relationships through the Brilliant points presentation product. Brilliant Points’ presentation system adds functionality to laser pointers. Management believes that this will lead to positive outcomes in the market. It will allow licensees to offer more and better features to their customers, moving them away form a commodity-type marketplace and increasing revenue.
Brilliant Points is determined to aggressively pursue licensing arrangements with large manufacturers that are already in the market. Also, it will defend its patents against infringements by competitors. The Company’s goal is to keep costs low and earn significant income while maintaining a high level of profitability.
Brilliant Points is a new start-up. This means that it doesn’t have any historical financials. Also, due to the course it is on, it is difficult to predict future revenues.
However, the Company used some basic assumptions to calculate licensing revenues. This analysis was based on licensing a small fraction of the business presentation industry. These assumptions show that the company will have substantial revenues in the first 18 months after it begins operations. They expect to be able to license approximately one and a half percent of sales forecasts for business projectors and/or sell 60,000 “upgrade†kits for existing presentations installations on the market. This plan analysis is based upon these projections. However, the “blue-sky” optimistic projections show potential revenues for the Company in excess of $100 million per year, assuming significant licensing penetration. Should the anticipated penetration of (1) home entertainment, (2) gaming, (3) military, and (4) pointer manufacturer markets occur, even these highly optimistic estimates may turn out to be low.
Brilliant Points is seeking capital investment and a line de credit to hire critical talent and begin aggressive marketing, licensing and sales of Brilliant Points technology. Brilliant Points projects a five year investor liquidity event. It will consist of (1) IPO, (2) acquisition or (3) Full Intellectual Property ownership by one of these larger companies.
