Sports Bar Business Plan

Sports Bar Business Plan

Opportunity

Problem

Watching sports is a group activity. It can be tedious to go to other people’s homes. People need a place they can go to watch, listen, eat, and drink their favorite beverages. After, a night of enjoyment, they happily go home

Solution

Take Five Sports Bar and Grill is determined to be the top sports-themed restaurant in the Southeast Region. Our goal: To be a step above the rest. We want our customers having more fun with their leisure time. We provide more televisions with more sporting events than anywhere else in the region. Every table is equipped with state-of the-art table-top microphones that allow customers to hear the program they are interested in without any background noise. In order to achieve our ultimate goal of providing entertainment/dining experience that is both memorable and affordable, we mix menu selections, ambiance, atmosphere, and service.

Market

Bars and Taverns are local gathering places where customers can eat bar food and drink alcohol-based and non-alcoholic drinks. Bars and taverns have historically been places that were able to establish a relationship with specific suppliers or vendors in order to market or increase awareness of particular brands. Bars and taverns are casual environments generally containing bar stools and tables. Entertainment may include live music, comedy shows, dancing, or bands.

For certain audiences or to increase attendance, specials may be offered. Cocktail bars usually offer light snacks or h&#8217. It can be attached or detached from a restaurant, hotel, or other establishment. Individuals who like high-end wines will find wine bars. Martini bars cater to individuals with a penchant for martinis. There are many bars: biker bars; gay bars; lesbian bars; alternate bars; singles bars; college bars. The type of person attending the bar is generally described by the specific adjective. Minors may have restricted access depending on who they are accompanied by and what time it is. Most municipalities have policies regarding hours and zoning.

Competition

Technomic’s BarTAB (Trends in Adult Beverage), report revealed that the Top 100 Nightclub & Bar venue venues in 2013 earned $1.5 billion in total revenue. Over two-thirds, or 68.2%, of the operators surveyed saw revenue growth in 2012 and almost three-quarters (31.4%) of them reported revenue growth exceeding 10%. Again, top nightclub and bar venues outperformed overall industry. Bar and nightclub revenue grew 3.9% between 2012 and 2013. The industry is likely to experience continued competition from non-industry entities such as restaurants through 2023.

The distilled spirits industry is very lucrative. But, both federal and state taxes play a major role in the industry. According to the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA), thirteen states had requested an increase in tax and other fees on alcoholic beverages. Additionally, the taxes on distilled spirits was $0.21 an ounce. The Distilled Spirits Council, the United States, stated that distilled spirits were one of the most heavily-taxed consumer products in America. Over half of the cost of a typical bottle distilled spirits is spent on taxes. The result is devastating for the entire hospitality business.

Distilled Spirits Council stated that 2014 saw a 4 percent increase of supplier sales to $23.1Billion and that the total U.S. volume grew 2.2% to 21 million cases. It is estimated that overall retail sales of distilled spirits in the U.S. market is nearly $70 billion, supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs in the hospitality industry and producing over $20 billion in tax revenues for all levels of government.

The U.S. Department of Commerce reported in June 2008 that adjusted alcohol sales increased by 5.2 percent to almost $9.2 Billion, compared with the same period last year. The NCPA also reported that the Federal excise tax collected on distilled spirits for 2006 was $4.4 Billion. This includes $3.6 Billion from beer, and $800 M from wine. During that time, nearly $5 billion was also collected in state taxes.

There were 58,829 establishments total in 2009. 20.2 percent of them were broadly classified as drinking places. This account for 11,502 establishments, and $4.

2009 revenues were 1 billion. The general classification included 6.2 percent with 3,523 companies and $858.9m 2009 revenues. 20.4 per cent were considered bars with 11,569 establishments. 31.2 percent were considered taverns. Smaller portions of this segment were made up of saloons, beer gardens, and wine bars. The market share of night clubs, discotheques, and cabarets was 8 percent. This equated to 4,541 establishments that generated $1.89B in 2009 combined.
